WeFlamenco Fest Announces 2026 Program of Performance, Poetry and Digital Exhibitions

The 17th edition features a García Lorca tribute, HemisFeria at Hemisfair, Arte y Pasión’s Wild Life and online programs documenting San Antonio’s flamenco community.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — WeFlamenco Fest has announced its 2026 program, bringing together live performance, poetry, community events and online exhibitions throughout the fall. Now in its 17th edition, the festival connects local artists and cultural organizations while expanding public access to San Antonio’s flamenco history.

A highlight is Lorca Vive on November 7 at the UNAM San Antonio Auditorium, presented in collaboration with the V Feria Internacional del Libro en Español de San Antonio. Marking 90 years since the death of Federico García Lorca, the multidisciplinary program features poet Rossy Evelin Lima, actor and poet José Rubén de León, flamenco artist Nahui Pérez Mañón and live musicians. Poetry, theater and flamenco will bring Lorca’s work into conversation with contemporary voices.

On November 8, from 1 to 5 p.m., HemisFeria: All Roads Lead to Us brings a free afternoon of dance to Hemisfair. Participants include Arte y Pasión, directed by Tamara Adira; Alma Gitana; Rhythmics School of Kathak; and the WeFlamenco Fest Student Showcase. The event places flamenco alongside other dance traditions in a shared public setting.

Arte y Pasión presents Wild Life on November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Beacon Midtown Theater, 1136 W. Woodlawn Avenue. On November 14, the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Dance Department presents FlamencOlé at the Buena Vista Theatre on UT San Antonio’s Downtown Campus. The calendar also includes a November 1 Spirit of Spain Brunch at Bombay Bicycle Club at Hemisfair and November 10 children’s storytime with Jessica Ahr at Hemisfair.

Digital Stage and Online Exhibitions

The Digital Stage opens with the Día de los Muertos Online Altar on October 24, a virtual ofrenda honoring departed artists and community members. On November 16, the festival will mark International Day of Flamenco with a virtual presentation. The observance coincides with the anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The festival’s online exhibitions bring photography, audio recordings and performance documentation into public view. Current projects feature Chayito Champion and Los Flamencos de San Antonio; photographs by Nicole Marie Moore; video works by Tamara Adira; and material from Arte y Pasión’s Sonidos de Libertad. Together, these projects make local artistic work available beyond the stage.
