There are moments in flamenco when the past, present and future meet on the same stage. On Friday, September 4, 2026, Mia de Lourdes returns to her hometown of San Antonio from Madrid, Spain, to share the stage with her childhood mentor, Olivia Chacon, at the legendary Carmens de la Calle café.
Mia was born and raised in San Antonio and first fell in love with flamenco at the age of four. After studying with Olivia Chacon as a child, she dedicated her life to the art and established herself as a professional flamenco dancer in Madrid.
“This one-time performance is an opportunity for Mia de Lourdes to come back to her hometown and share her work with the community that made her the artist and person she is today.”
A Full-Circle Moment
Olivia Chacon and Isai Chacon are the directors of A’lante Flamenco in Austin, Texas, which they founded after an extensive residency in Spain. Mia’s return to San Antonio brings her artistic journey back to the community where it began.
She is deeply committed to the art of tablao, the core art of flamenco, which requires complete connection between artists and creates space for spontaneity and improvisation in a singular moment.

A Night of San Antonio Flamenco History
Audiences will witness this full-circle moment with Mia de Lourdes, Olivia Chacon, guitarist Isai Chacon and singer Guille Gonzalez.
There will be two performances, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Audience members can attend either show or both. As the event announcement notes, “each of which will be unique.”
Following the performance, flamenco dancers throughout the community are invited to come dance. The invitation makes the evening more than a performance—it becomes a gathering of the San Antonio flamenco community and a continuation of the tradition that helped shape Mia’s artistic life.
